DESCRIPTION:What an afternoon you’ll have when you join us at the lakeside home of Mary Ann Geoffrey. Enjoy drinks overlooking the dogwoods and Tellico Lake. We then move to lunch followed by a performance by Violinist Marki Lukyniuk. \nMarki Lukyniuk arrived at the University of Tennessee in September 2022 to continue his studies in violin performance while Ukraine continued to battle a war sparked by Russia’s February invasion. Marki was a student at the prestigious Kyiv Conservatory when Russia invaded and bombed Ukraine’s capital city. \nMarki knew he wanted to continue his education after being forced to leave the Kyiv Conservatory. He began looking into institutions abroad and became interested in UT when a hometown friend and former Vols student suggested it. Marki reached out to UT violin professor Miroslav Hristov\, told him his story\, and the complex process of getting Marki transferred started. DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a fascinating evening in the private home of Victor and Joan Ashe. The home was built in 1921 with two additions completed in 2012 and 2016. You will be able to view their extensive art collection from Poland\, Europe\, and East Tennessee throughout the home and in the gallery addition. We will begin with appetizers and wine in the living area before progressing to the dining areas for a specially prepared Polish-inspired fine dining experience. \nThe Ashes have led a very interesting life! In addition to raising their two children\, they are long-time public servants. First elected at age 23\, Victor served in the Tennessee House of Representatives for six years and then in the Tennessee Senate for nine years. In 1987 he was elected Mayor of Knoxville and continued in that position for 16 years until 2003. In August 2023\, he was awarded the Bruce McCarty Community Impact Award for progress during his tenure as Mayor. \nFollowing his time as Mayor\, he became the U.S. Ambassador to Poland for five years until he returned to Knoxville in 2009. \nJoan Ashe is very active with the Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum and is a past President of the Board of Directors. \nMenu \nJoan Ashe will prepare a four-course Polish-inspired fine dining experience\nAccompanied by wine \nYour Hosts \nAmbassador and Mrs. Victor Ashe \n

Seated atop Black Oak Ridge Mountain in Fountain City\, Ridgefield was constructed in 1914 for Mr. and Mrs. C.J. McClung by renowned architect Charles Barber as their summer estate and later their full-time residence. \nWith sweeping views of the East Tennessee Valley and Mount Leconte\, the estate offers a rolling front lawn and newly restored gardens. After luncheon\, the home will be open for a tour and history given by owners Ron Hall and Robert York\, who are restoring the home and gardens back to their former glory.
